Our dedicated Caregivers, Care Managers, Licensed Counselors, and Advocates are deeply engaged and stand strong with us to provide exceptional home care. With the mindset that no challenge is too big, they offer individualized attention to ensure that concerns are addressed proactively, before they become problems.

Family First at Home President, Jennipher Ama, has a deep understanding of the importance of comfort, safety, and familiarity in the lives of older adults and others. Drawing from her experience as an intensive care nurse, she is dedicated to transforming the aging experience and simplifying access to home care for the most vulnerable.

Jennipher Ama

President, RN, CMC

For more than 20 years, Jen has been at the forefront of in home care and geriatric care management, transforming the delivery of in-home care services. Under Jen’s leadership, Family First has expanded from one location to multiple new markets, introduced new service offerings, formed strategic partnerships, and implemented technology solutions to enhance service delivery. With a background as a registered nurse and certified care manager specializing in critical care nursing, Jen brings a unique combination of clinical expertise, business acumen, and client advocacy to her role. A respected figure in the industry, Jen is a member of several professional associations, including the Aging Life Care Association, the Home Care Association of America, and has held leadership positions in various organizations, including the Washington Home Care Association and the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce. Jen has also been involved in the Northwest Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners. Outside of work, Jennipher enjoys spending time with family, hiking, and relaxing by the lake or ocean.

Colleen Koenig

Colleen Koenig

Colleen Koenig has over a decade of leadership experience in senior care strategy, operations, acquisitions, and integrations. Her passion for serving older adults began early when watching her father found and grow their family’s home care agency in New Jersey. Many of the lessons she learned about how to properly care for others with dignity and respect are deeply rooted in those early experiences.  Colleen has since led and supported a variety of organizations across the home care, care management, and health-tech sectors. Prior to joining Family First, she built and scaled the Owned Operations division at Honor/Home Instead, unifying multiple agencies into a national operation. Today, she brings her expertise to primarily mid-size agencies creating teams & processes that grow sustainably and deliver high-quality care. Outside of work, Colleen enjoys time with her son, husband, and extended family with a focus on exploring the outdoors.

Heidi Hodges

Finance Manager

Heidi has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with a diverse clinical background in various post-acute settings. Her understanding of client needs, care coordination skills, and knowledge of affordability issues has been instrumental in her success at Family First.

Since joining the company in 2010 as a Scheduling Coordinator, Heidi has made impactful contributions across multiple departments, ultimately leading to her current Finance Manager role. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, baking, and hosting gatherings with good food and conversation.

Paige Ruemmler

Manager of Care Management

Paige Ruemmler’s dedication to offering comprehensive, person-centered support was ignited while volunteering at Spectrum Health Hospice. Through this experience, she realized the significance of addressing intricate care needs while assisting clients in preserving their quality of life. This led her to specialize in working with seniors and their families with multiple medical conditions requiring complex care.

As the Manager of Care Management and Counseling, Paige leads a skilled team of care managers, fostering a strong team dynamic and setting the standard for Family First Care Management services. In her leisure time, Paige enjoys exploring local coffee shops, discovering new authors through her monthly book subscription, and has recently developed a love for skiing, appreciating the beauty and tranquility it offers.

Jennifer Shuman

Director, Home Care

Jenn’s dedication to home care is deeply personal, stemming from her own experience caring for a family member with dementia. This firsthand experience highlighted the importance of compassionate in-home caregiving and inspired her to join Family First in 2016. As the Director of Home Care, Jenn ensures service excellence by overseeing all aspects of care delivery, from managing staff to building strategic relationships.

Before joining Family First, Jenn worked at Rockwood Clinic, a leading outpatient diagnostic and treatment center. She is actively involved in Alzheimer’s awareness efforts in Washington State and is a passionate advocate for Donate Life Northwest. Outside of work, Jenn enjoys reading, hiking, spontaneous road trips and spending time with family and friends.
